Sun and Moon Sword

There are many interpretations regarding this knife; some refer to it as "Dragon Scale," while others dispute this. Some simply call it a dagger. The same book, "Dian Lun," presents two conflicting accounts, leaving people perplexed.

According to the records of Jin, Lü Qian possessed a treasured sword. Upon hearing that one must attain the rank of San Gong to wear it, he gave it away to someone else

The New Pavilion Marquis Sword

According to the "Records of the Three Kingdoms": (Pan) Zhang's subordinate Sima Mazhong captured (Guan) Yu, along with Yu's son Ping and the commander Zhao Lei. (Sun) Quan then divided the counties of Yidu (Zhi) and (Wu), and Zhi Gui into the solidified Ling County, appointing Zhang as the governor, General of the Vibrant Might, and enfeoffing him as the Marquis of Liyang

In Chapter 92 of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," titled "Zhao Zilong Slays Five Generals and Zhuge Liang Strategically Captures Three Cities": The fourth son, Han Qi, seeing that his second brother was unable to gain the upper hand in battle, also spurred his horse and wielded two Sun and Moon Blades, surrounding Zhao Yun.

It is unclear how formidable Cao Zhen's sword is, yet Wang Shuang is willing to exchange his own sword, which he believes could elevate his status, for it. Based on my humble estimation, it is likely that Cao Zhen's sword is not particularly impressive; he may have used his power to forcibly acquire Wang Shuang's sword.

This is one of the protagonists of the "Yuanmen Shooting the Halberd," the weapon wielded by the general Ji Ling under Yuan Shu. It weighs fifty pounds and is also referred to as the three-pointed knife. Ji Ling, a native of Shandong, cherished it dearly, carrying it wherever he went, even placing it beside his pillow while sleeping, more intimately than with his wife, which led to numerous family disputes.

This sword can rival the one wielded by Deng Ai, which is as black as lacquer; both possess a distinctive color and are held by generals who have fought countless battles on the battlefield, taking many lives. However, this Huang Zhong sword appears to be even sharper, having beheaded hundreds of enemies in a single day without showing any signs of damage.

The Three Kingdoms period truly witnessed a plethora of talents. In addition to the divine physician Hua Tuo, the great inventor Ma Jun, the eminent mathematician Liu Hui, and the distinguished literary figure Cao Zhi, there was also the master craftsman Pu Yuan. Not only could he easily determine the purity of water, but he could also identify its source. Once his blades were forged, they were truly extraordinary, embodying the saying: "Cuts through iron like mud"

A knife most closely associated with beasts

The Qinglong Yanyue Knife cannot be forgotten, as it is the weapon of Lord Guan, belonging to the category of heavy weaponry. By the name of the God of War, it is known as the "Number One Battle Knife in the World" and is also referred to as the "Ancestral Knife of China." Similarly, like Lord Guan, it has become a "Divine Knife" in the hearts of the people

Liang · Tao Hongjing's "Records of Ancient and Modern Swords": Zhou Youping, having defeated Cao Gong, was appointed as the General of Pacifying the Barbarians. Consequently, he crafted a sword, inscribing on the back the name Youping.

Once owned by Wang Yun, it was lent to him after being swayed by a few grandiose words from A Man to assassinate Dong Zhuo. As a result, the mission failed, and the treasured blade fell into Dong Zhuo's hands, while A Man fled.

A knife that makes a lot of noise but has little impact

However, for this batch of mass-produced knives, to achieve such quality in every single one is truly remarkable; they can only be referred to as divine blades

According to the "Records of the Three Kingdoms," it is stated that "Cao Gong left Ruxu, and (Zhou) Tai went to attack again. Cao Gong retreated, leaving Du Ruxu and appointing him as the General of Pacifying the Bandits." The historical fact mentioned in the text indicates that this sword was likely created after the Battle of Ruxu

In Volume Four of "The Collected Works of Zhuge Liang": Zhuge Liang once wished to forge a sword but had not succeeded. At that time, Pu Yuan was appointed as a clerk in the Western Department, known for his ingenuity. He was entrusted with the task at the mouth of Xie Valley, where he melted metal to create implements, employing an unusual method to forge three thousand swords for Zhuge. Once the swords were completed, he remarked that the Han River was dull and weak, unsuitable for quenching. The Shu River, however, was brisk and vigorous, said to be the essence of great gold, bestowed by heaven upon its land. He then ordered someone to fetch water from the river in Chengdu for quenching the swords, stating that the mixed water from the Fu River was not usable. The water fetcher insisted that it was not mixed, to which Yuan responded by drawing a line in the water with a sword, saying, "If it is mixed by eight sheng, why do you claim it is not?" The water fetcher bowed his head in submission, explaining, "Indeed, at the Fu Crossing, I was fearful of overturning the water, thus I added eight sheng of Fu water to it." At this, everyone was astonished and impressed, calling it miraculous. Once the swords were completed, iron beads were tightly packed into a bamboo tube, and when the sword was raised to cut through it, the beads fell away effortlessly, resembling weak quail water, and were deemed unparalleled in the world, hence named the divine sword. The current ear rings are remnants of this design.

In addition to composing poetry, Cao Cao had another passion: he was particularly fond of developing advanced, high-tech, and high-difficulty weapons that were ahead of the productivity of his time. This may also be attributed to his background as a military general, as his years of warfare made him place great importance on the weapons used for self-defense.

The Records of the Three Kingdoms states: "In the thirteenth year of Jian'an, (Sun) Quan attacked Huang Zu. Zu was entrenched at Mengtong, using large stones tied with ropes to block the river, with a thousand men above, shooting crossbows in a rain of arrows, preventing the army from advancing. Xi and Ling Tong were both in the vanguard, each leading a hundred brave soldiers, clad in double armor, boarding large ships to break into Mengtong. Xi used a knife to cut the ropes, causing the river to flow freely, allowing the main forces to advance. Zu then opened the gates and fled, but the soldiers pursued and killed him." Thereafter, it does not mention that Dong Xi was granted the title of Grand Marshal as a result.

Dong Zhuo, in his youth, worked the fields and obtained a sword. The sword bore no inscriptions, and its four sides were adorned with cloud patterns resembling mountains, capable of cutting jade as if it were clay. When Dong Zhuo became powerful, he showed it to the general Cai Yong, who remarked that this was the sword of Xiang Yu.

Simply saying "to receive a knife," it is unclear whether it is a request for someone to forge it or a willing gift from another. It is also uncertain whether it was crafted at that moment or is an ancient artifact from a more distant past. Coupled with its disappearance, this knife exudes an air of inscrutable mystery.

Lady Zhurong, a native of the southern barbarians and a descendant of the Zhurong clan, was skilled in the use of flying daggers, hitting her targets with every throw. Meng Huo rose to express his gratitude. The lady cheerfully mounted her horse, leading several hundred fierce generals from her faction and five thousand elite soldiers from the Cave of Life, emerging from the Silver Pit Palace to confront the Shu army.

It was precisely because Ma Zhong captured Guan Yu that Pan Zhang, as a capable leader, received special attention from Sun Quan. Not only was he bestowed with several titles that were "notional rather than substantial," but he also attained the position of "substantive and recognized" governor. In his delight, he crafted this sword, whose sharpness is debatable; in fact, its practicality is certainly overshadowed by its symbolic significance.

After Guan Yu's defeat at Maicheng, he was killed by Sun Quan. Eager for revenge, he became heavily intoxicated and prepared a lavish feast called "Sugar and Wonderful Chestnuts" for Zhang Da and Fan Qiang, who had delayed him slightly. Zhu Zhi was appointed as the General of An Guo in the second year of Huang Wu. This sword was likely crafted during that time, though its exact form is now lost to history. He had previously fought alongside Sun Jian to establish their dominion and had advised Sun Ce to return to Jiangdong to lay the foundation for their enterprise, contributing indelibly to the Sun family's rule in Jiangdong. Dragon Scale Dew, Strange Blade

According to the first chapter of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" titled "The Banquet in the Peach Garden: The Three Heroes Swear Brotherhood and Slay the Yellow Turban Heroes to Achieve Merit": Yun Chang forged the Green Dragon Crescent Blade, also known as the "Cold Beauty Saw," weighing eighty-two jin

However, in terms of its craftsmanship, it is by no means a product of the Three Kingdoms period; it must have first appeared during the Tang and Song dynasties. At that time, most generals used spears when they entered the battlefield. Therefore, the "Records of the Three Kingdoms" describes the moment when Guan Yu executed Yan Liang as follows: "Yu saw Liang's banner, rode his horse to stab Liang amidst the crowd, beheaded him, and returned. None of the generals under Shao could stop him, thus he broke the encirclement of the white horse."

He then ordered someone to fetch river water from Chengdu, stating that the water from the Fu River could not be used for tempering. The water bearer insisted that it was not mixed. Yuan drew a line in the water with the blade, indicating it was mixed by eight sheng. The water bearer bowed and said: 'The water from Fu Jin is covered,' and thus added eight sheng of Fu water. In "Records of the Three Kingdoms, Volume 54, The Book of Wu, Biography of Zhou Yu, Lu Su, and Lu Meng, Part 9," it is noted that although Zhou Yu once served as the Governor of Nanjun, he was never appointed to the position of "General Who Pacifies Bandits." Within Eastern Wu, only Cheng Pu and Jiang Qin held the title of General Who Pacifies Bandits, and both of these appointments occurred after Zhou Yu's death

This sword accompanied Guan Yu in battles for many years, deeply cherished by him. After Jingzhou was taken, fearing that this sword would fall into the hands of the enemy and be wasted, he threw it into the water. Thus, the world lost a sharp weapon that could have intrigued people.

There are indeed such individuals who underestimate their own abilities. It is as if they are like Wang Shuang, who, upon hearing that a knife can bring great fortune, has never put it down since acquiring it. If it were not for the boss's pressing insistence, he would be reluctant to change it.

Among the people of Eastern Wu, Han Dang wielded a sword, and so did Zu Mao, likely having learned from their old masters. Sun Jian's sword, however, proved to be of little use, as he encountered someone even more skilled with a sword. Not only did he flee in disarray, but he also burned the red scarf on his head to escape its threat
